Beskrivelse af The Fiery Cross
The Fiery Cross: Or The Vow Of Montrose is a historical fiction novel written by Barbara Hutton and originally published in 1875. The story takes place in 17th century Scotland during the time of the Jacobite uprising. The main character is Allan M'Aulay, a loyal follower of the Marquis of Montrose, who is fighting for the restoration of the Stuart monarchy. Allan is tasked with delivering a fiery cross, a symbol of war, to rally the clans to Montrose's cause. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with a young Englishwoman named Edith Bellenden, who is torn between her loyalty to her country and her growing feelings for Allan. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, and patriotism, as well as the brutality and violence of war. The Fiery Cross is a classic historical novel that provides a vivid depiction of life in 17th century Scotland and the struggles of those fighting for their beliefs. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
