The Domino of Silence

She will always remember the first day of that June. The taxi pulled up right in front of her NEW apartment. At the basement of an old building numbered 10, her new "home" stood with the shutters half- opened, waiting for the new hostess. First day of June. The beginning of the summer. Probably the beginning of her new life. The search of this new life had reinforced her with the strength she needed in order to abandon her home town. A place she adored but which was later to become her personal prison. Zoe carried only two suitcases although her travel from Crete to Thessaloniki would have no return. She had promised total change to herself despite the fact that her heart was torn to pieces at the mere thought of leaving her loved, little village. There was no other alternative to go on, to go on living.
