Beskrivelse af The Deerslayer Or The First War Path
The Deerslayer, also known as The First War Path, is a historical novel written by James Fenimore Cooper and published in 1850. The novel is set in the 1740s in the wilderness of upstate New York and follows the adventures of a young frontiersman named Natty Bumppo, who is also known as Deerslayer. The story begins with Deerslayer and his friend Hurry Harry traveling to a lake where they plan to trade with the local Native American tribe. Along the way, they encounter a group of hostile Native Americans who are planning to attack the nearby settlement of the white settlers. Deerslayer and Hurry Harry decide to warn the settlers and help them defend their homes. As the story progresses, Deerslayer becomes romantically involved with Judith Hutter, the daughter of a settler who lives on an island in the middle of the lake. However, Judith is also being courted by a Native American warrior named Uncas, which leads to a conflict between the two men.Throughout the novel, Cooper explores themes of race, identity, and the clash of cultures between the Native Americans and the white settlers. The Deerslayer is considered one of Cooper's best works and is often cited as a classic example of early American literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
