In a land where emotion is hidden, reincarnation is accepted and suicide is an acceptable form of cleansing for mistakes or shame, Warren Haas has arrived to confront his life; past and present. A one-book wonder that rode to fame in the 80's has fallen and in a quest for a living samsara attempts to reinvent himself in Japan finding strength within he never thought possible. Teaching English at Kin Tama School outside Tokyo in the Native Speakers department with other ex-pats allows him to grow spiritually and become a better man when he encounters the artist Ueda who shines a small light on his path of enlightenment and his fateful encounter with Yukio, a senior who has returned from living abroad who is in need of some answers as to his identity as well and is a stranger in his own land who plots a tragic path on his own destiny with rebirth.
