Beskrivelse af The Daughter of Huang Chow
The Daughter of Huang Chow is a mystery novel written by Sax Rohmer. The story is set in early 20th century London and follows the adventures of detective Denis Nayland Smith and his sidekick Dr. Petrie as they investigate the murder of a young Chinese woman named Kwei-lan. Kwei-lan was the daughter of a wealthy Chinese merchant named Huang Chow, who hires Smith and Petrie to find her killer. As the investigation progresses, Smith and Petrie encounter a number of suspects, including Kwei-lan's former lover, a rival Chinese merchant, and a mysterious figure known only as ""the Mandarin."" Along the way, they also encounter a number of dangerous situations, including a kidnapping and a shootout. The Daughter of Huang Chow is a classic mystery novel that combines elements of detective fiction with exotic settings and characters. Rohmer's writing is fast-paced and engaging, and his descriptions of early 20th century London and China are vivid and evocative. The novel is a must-read for fans of classic mystery fiction and anyone interested in the history and culture of China. Many of the larger pieces about the place contained drawers and cupboards, and these he systematically opened one after another, without making any discovery of note. Some of the cupboards contained broken pieces of crockery, and more or less damaged curios of one kind and another, but none of them gave him the clue for which he was seeking. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
