The Charm School is a novel written by Alice Duer Miller and first published in 1919. The story is set in the early 1900s and follows the lives of three young women who attend a charm school in New York City. The school is run by Madame Sylvia, a Frenchwoman who teaches the girls how to be charming and attractive to men.The three main characters are Grace, Constance, and Barbara. Grace is a wealthy heiress who is engaged to a man she does not love. Constance is a struggling actress who is looking for her big break. Barbara is a young woman from a poor family who dreams of a better life.At the charm school, the girls are taught how to dress, how to walk, how to talk, and how to behave in social situations. They also learn how to flirt and how to attract men. Madame Sylvia is a strict teacher who demands perfection from her students.As the story progresses, the three girls become friends and help each other through various challenges. Grace falls in love with a man she meets at the charm school, but her engagement to her wealthy fianc����� poses a problem. Constance finally gets her big break in the theater, but it comes at a cost.
