The Captives: Or The Lost Recovered is a play written by Thomas Heywood and first published in 1639. The play tells the story of two brothers, Eroclea and Leontius, who are separated at birth and raised in different parts of the world. Eroclea is captured by pirates and sold as a slave to Leontius' father, who raises her as his own daughter. When Eroclea and Leontius meet as adults, they fall in love without realizing they are siblings. The play explores themes of love, identity, and family, as well as the social and political issues of the time.
