Beskrivelse af The Captives Of Plautus (1896)
The Captives Of Plautus is a play written by Titus Maccius Plautus in 1896. The play is set in ancient Rome and follows the story of two young men, Tyndarus and Philocrates, who are taken captive by a group of soldiers. The soldiers plan to sell the two men as slaves, but Tyndarus comes up with a plan to escape by pretending to be a slave himself. He manages to convince the soldiers that he is a skilled slave trader and is able to sell Philocrates to a wealthy merchant. The rest of the play follows Tyndarus as he tries to rescue his friend and escape from his own captivity. Along the way, he must navigate the treacherous world of Roman politics and deal with a cast of colorful characters, including a scheming courtesan and a bumbling soldier. The Captives Of Plautus is a classic work of Roman comedy that explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and deception. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
