Beskrivelse af The Brus
The Brus is a narrative poem written by John Barbour in the 14th century. It tells the story of the Scottish Wars of Independence and the life of Robert the Bruce, the King of Scotland. The poem is divided into 20 books and covers the period from 1298 to 1388. It describes the battles and political struggles between the Scots and the English, including the famous Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. The poem also portrays Robert the Bruce as a heroic figure who fought for Scottish independence and his struggles to keep the Scottish crown. The Brus is considered one of the most important works of Scottish literature and is written in Middle Scots. To Sanct Androws he come in hy, Quhar the byschop full curtasly Resavyt him and gert him wer His knyvys forouth him to scher, And cled him rycht honorabilly And gert ordayn quhar he suld ly.
