Beskrivelse af The Blue Omnibus - Haraprasad Dasanka Kabita
The Blue Omnibus carries in it a significant body of the poetic oeuvre of the Odia Poet Haraprasad Das, one of the contemporary Indian Masters. This is the first of the omnibuses of his works that conveys in a cluster of five major works including a grand postmodern epic, the complex yet highly innovative nature of his Poetry. The classical, the modernist, the ethnic, the lyrical and the Avant Garde, jostle for space in his Poetry and succeed in creating a new language of poetry that valorizes and thereby validates the exclusive identity of Odia, both as a language and as a people.
Haraprasad Das believes that poetry written in a language must retain in the end the irreducible minimum resonance of that language that is epiphanic, crystalline and inimitably original ! He has until now published more than eighteen works of poetry apart from a huge body of social and literary discourses. He is the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, the highest award of the National Academy of Letters, the prestigious Gangadhar Meher National Poetry Award, and the Moortidevi award of the Bharatiya Jnanpith, apart from numerous awards, honours and felicitations. Black Eagle Books hopes to hallmark the Indian poetic space with omnibuses carrying the entire body of the Odia Poetry of Haraprasad Das.
