Beskrivelse af The Barrier (1910)
The Barrier is a novel written by French author Rene Bazin and was published in 1910. The book is set in the rural region of Brittany, France, and tells the story of a young woman named Yvonne de Galais, who is forced to choose between her love for her childhood friend, Philippe Oriol, and her duty to marry a wealthy landowner, the Marquis de Trgars. Yvonne's father, the Baron de Galais, has made a deal with the Marquis de Trgars to marry his daughter in exchange for a large sum of money to save the family estate from financial ruin. However, Yvonne is in love with Philippe, who is also in love with her but is unable to marry her due to his own financial struggles. As Yvonne struggles with her feelings and her duty to her family, she begins to uncover secrets about the Marquis de Trgars and his true intentions. With the help of Philippe, Yvonne sets out to uncover the truth and save her family from ruin. The Barrier explores themes of love, duty, and social class in early 20th century France. It is a classic French novel that has been translated into multiple languages and has been adapted into several films and television series. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
