Beskrivelse af The Autobiography Of Benvenuto Cellini
The Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini is a memoir written by the Italian artist and goldsmith, Benvenuto Cellini. The book was first published in 1728, and it chronicles the life of Cellini from his birth in Florence in 1500 to his death in 1571. Cellini was a prominent figure in the Italian Renaissance, and his autobiography provides a fascinating insight into the life and times of the period. The book is divided into three parts, and each part covers a different period of Cellini's life. The first part of the book covers Cellini's early life in Florence, where he trained as a goldsmith and sculptor. He describes his apprenticeship with various masters, his early artistic successes, and his many love affairs. The second part of the book covers Cellini's time in Rome, where he worked for various popes and created some of his most famous works of art, including the Perseus statue. He also writes about his many battles and duels, including his famous fight with the sculptor, Bartolomeo Ammannati. The third and final part of the book covers Cellini's later life, including his time in France, where he worked for King Francis I. He also writes about his various illnesses and his religious conversion.Throughout the book, Cellini provides a vivid and colorful account of his life, filled with drama, passion, and adventure. He writes in a lively and engaging style, and his autobiography is considered one of the greatest works of Italian literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
