Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease, in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues of the body. It is one of several diseases that mimics other illnesses. Its diagnosis can thus be elusive. Some of the initial and chronic signs associated with this condition are malaise, fever, joint pains, fatigue, rashes and muscle pains. Around 70% of people with lupus have skin symptoms. Multiple genes have an influence in the development of lupus. It may also be triggered by drug reactions but is largely reversible.
