Beskrivelse af Sweet Lullaby Poems
Judy Mastrangelo's enchanting and colorful paintings beautifully depict this collection of famous and well loved sleepy time poems, written by talented authors of the past. Several of these "Lullaby Poems" have familiar melodies which can be sung. You may also enjoy creating your own tunes for the lyrics.
The following are some of Judy's favorite poems she has chosen to illustrate for this delightful anthology: "Rock A Bye Baby" and "Little Boy Blue" are two popular Mother Goose poems that are included. You will also find a well known American Lullaby, "All The Pretty Little Horses", which has tender descriptions of beautiful dreamy horses.
In this book, you may recognize one of the most famous lullabies ever written: "Lullaby And Goodnight", also known as "Brahm's Lullaby". The music and lyrics were written by Johannes Brahms, and Judy adapted the verse for his lovely cradle song. She also modified the words to another poem: "Angel Prayer". You may remember the melody to this well known lullaby, which is from Hansel and Gretel: "When I lay me down to sleep, Fourteen Angels watch do keep...."
Of course her book wouldn't be complete without including the beloved "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", written by Jane Taylor. Judy has illustrated this entire poem, and interpreted it in a unique and enthralling way, by depicting a young girl's dream. In this fanciful adventure, the little child enjoys enchantment in a magical starlit sky. When she flies "Up above the world so high", she meets some lovable Fantasy Animals in adorable costumes, the whimsical Man In the Moon, and Little Twinkle Star. This poem, accompanied by Judy's entrancing paintings, is a very uplifting experience.
Judy has also included one of her own original poems that she wrote and illustrated, entitled "Evening Dreams". In it, she describes the wonderful visions of a lovely Fairy, sleeping on the Moon, surrounded by gentle Guardian Spirits.
Both Children and Adults of all ages will delight in reading this engaging selection of poetry, as well as looking at Judy's enthralling, and detailed artwork, which illustrates it so well. It is beautifully put together, handsomely designed and delightful in every way. This book will make a fine addition to the collections of those who love beautiful literature and painting. In her "Sweet Lullaby Poems", Judy has created a charming and captivating book, which will always be cherished.
