Sons of Issachar

The mighty men of Israel have fallen in a great slaughter against Philistines during a battle at Mount Gilboa. Their King Saul, along with his three sons and thousands of Israel soldiers have been brutally killed. Their bodies will be desecrated and stripped of weapons and any other adornment. Saul's head and armor is sent throughout the Philistine kingdom as a gruesome trophy of their victory over Israel. His skull is mounted in the temple of Dagon as a glorious symbol of victory for their pagan god. Israel is in great turmoil. The house of Judah prepares to make David king over them while the house of Benjamin remain loyal to the house of Saul. Saul's only remaining son Ish-bosheth is appointed king over Israel by Abner, a senior commander in his father's army. This rift plunges Israel into a civil war, as the Kingdom of Israel is divided between David, and the unfortunate Ish-bosheth, whose reign is short lived. The nation is in desperate need of true wisdom and divine guidance. And so, according to the prophetic word of their father Jacob, along come the sons of Issachar! It is during this sensitive and pivotal time in the history of God's chosen nation, that God causes the Sons of Issachar to step forward, to exercise unmatched wisdom and influence in knowing what 'Israel ought to do'. David has weapons and warriors aplenty, but it is not until the Tribe of Issachar comes on board, that the establishment of a unified and peaceful Kingdom becomes a reality.
