Beskrivelse af Siberia
Siberia: A Record of Travel, Climbing, and Exploration is a non-fiction book written by Samuel Turner and originally published in 1905. The book describes the author's experiences during his travels through Siberia, which he undertook in order to explore the region and to climb some of its highest peaks. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which covers a different aspect of Turner's journey. The first chapter provides an overview of Siberia, including its geography, climate, and history. The following chapters describe Turner's travels through various parts of the region, including the Altai Mountains, the Sayan Mountains, and Lake Baikal. Turner also writes about his experiences with the local people, including the Buryat and Tungus tribes, as well as the Russian settlers who had established themselves in Siberia. He describes their customs, traditions, and way of life, as well as the challenges they faced living in such a harsh environment. In addition to his travels and interactions with the local people, Turner also writes about his climbing expeditions in Siberia. He describes his attempts to scale some of the region's most challenging peaks, including Mount Belukha and Mount Khan Tengri. Overall, Siberia: A Record of Travel, Climbing, and Exploration is a fascinating account of one man's journey through one of the most remote and inhospitable regions of the world. It provides a unique glimpse into the geography, culture, and history of Siberia, as well as the challenges and rewards of exploring such a vast and varied landscape. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
