Beskrivelse af Shiro Tsujimura
The most comprehensive monograph dedicated to the vast work of ceramicist Shiro Tsujimura, who reinvented the traditional art form with his signature brio.
Shiro Tsujimura is reinventing the classic art of ceramics. This book, produced in close collaboration with the artist, traces his journey from his time as a student of painting to his training in Zen Buddhism and the eventual invention of his wholly unique and self-taught approach to ceramic art. Laziz Hamini’s photographs capture the poetic atmosphere of his home and studio as well as his process, his works in progress, and his finished pieces. A personal essay by the artist on his life and art is complemented by archival photographs. Guggenheim curator Alexandra Munroe reflects on his art in relation to the Japanese tea ceremony. A detailed chronology details the life of this maverick artist.
This volume demonstrates ceramic art in its most modern and daring form under the hand of master ceramicist Shiro Tsujimura.
