Beskrivelse af Scoop
Tom Rafferty's colleagues, friends and family are all cast aside in the most cruel, callous and cold-blooded manner as he pursues a dream to work for a tabloid newspaper.
But first he has to win the vacant chief sportswriter's position at his local regional newspaper, ahead of a more popular colleague before he can fulfil this ambition.
The loathsome sportswriter is well aware a talented rival is the overwhelming favourite to land the post, so ruthlessly schemes to discredit him and claim the coveted job, while attempting to exorcise the demons of a troubled past.
The ghosts of a disturbing childhood are exacerbated when Rafferty's mother resurfaces in his life and intensifies the longing to discover the identity of his father. The ambitious sportswriter becomes more irrational and intense, because of it, and this brings on a series of anxiety and panic attacks.
Yet redemption may be at hand in the form of a beautiful colleague named Lucy-a victim of sexual assault. Lucy is attempting to rebuild her life. And her good virtue and integrity might just provide the salvation Rafferty needs as he attempts to rebuild his own life.
