Beskrivelse af Rudder Grange (1883)
Rudder Grange is a novel written by Frank Richard Stockton and published in 1883. The story follows the adventures of a newlywed couple, the narrator and his wife, as they embark on a honeymoon trip aboard a houseboat named Rudder Grange. The couple, along with their dog, are accompanied by a colorful cast of characters, including a cook, a farmer, and a young girl named Pomona. As they travel along the Erie Canal, the group encounters a series of humorous and often absurd situations, from getting lost in a dense fog to dealing with a group of unruly geese. Along the way, they also discover hidden treasures, make new friends, and learn valuable lessons about love, loyalty, and the importance of community.Throughout the novel, Stockton employs his signature wit and clever wordplay to create a lighthearted and entertaining tale that is both charming and insightful. Rudder Grange has become a beloved classic of American literature and is often cited as one of the earliest examples of the ""humorous novel"" genre. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
