Reflection of Death Notion Upon Life Style on the Basis of Nahjolbalagheh Teaching

Identity Crisis and transformation of values, especially in the last hundred years, leads to the dispersion in attitudes, beliefs, customs and behaviors in different societies, and unfortunately the maladies of the modern life such as excessive consumerism, luxury and other bad ethical habits affected the life style of the Muslim communities. This issue for the Muslim Communities, Especially Shiites, which are enriched by prophets' lifestyle, Inspirations, Quran and Nahj-al Balagha, is a great social damage. Because all of the social and individual behaviors, tendencies, desires and responsibilities of the Human kind, are originated from the general attitudes which rule the life, so in order to revise and modify the behaviors of a society, the best way is to modify their attitudes. Thinking about death is the innate result of the futurism of the human, and his attention to the destiny and looking for the end of the life in this world, is a useful thought for continuity of the life and entering into the eternal world. Therefore this attitude can be considered as one of the most important issues in the revision of the social and individual lifestyle. General attitudes which rule the life are categorized in 4 groups: Attitudes about God, Attitudes about him/herself, Attitudes about the Existence and Attitudes about the Others. The attitudes of human about the existence as a meaningful, targeted, active and immortal collection, is the result of thinking about death, and certainly the creator of this existence, himself is a smart and wise creature, and his want is to be merciful and this is the same as obeying the laws. The revision of the attitudes about him/herself will result in intelligence understanding, being mature, control on him/herself and gaining internal peace; and finally feeling of brotherhood and fraternity is the main achievement of the revision of the attitudes about the others. Some of the resulting behaviors from these revised attitudes and also beliefs and thoughts resulted from thinking about death are staying away from secularism, gaining some feelings such as Virtue, piety, asceticism and contentment and so on. Which these feeling certainly have important effects on directing the social behavior of the person.
