Bag om Recreating the India of imagination

Diasporic literature produced by the writers of Indian diaspora exposes problems and diasporic life. Writers like V.S. Naipaul, Salman Rushdie, Bharati Mukherjee, Rohinton Mistry, Chitra Divakaruni, Jhumpa Lahiri, Amitav Ghosh, Meena Alexandera and many others have tried to present India not of present time but the time they had spent in their native land. They present India of their imagination, its history, identity, culture and religious notions. This study is an attempt to highlight the love and attachment of the diasporic writers to their 'homeland' even after many years of resettlement. The nostalgia present in their life finds full way through their writings. Two famous writers of Indian Diaspora - Amitav Ghosh and Rohinton Mistry- present such feelings in their novels and to highlight the recreation of the India through their imagination 2 novels each of these writers have been discussed in detail. The Shadow Lines and The Circle of Reason are the two remarkable novels by Amitav Ghosh whereas Such a Long Journey and A Fine Balance are the ones by Rohinton Mistry. These are the representative novels of these novelists and with the help of these we can understand the feelings
