Adoption is complicated because it begins with loss. Like an onion, there are so many layers to peel back to get to the heart of each individual story. Children don't normally ask to be adopted, nor do they ask to have their entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Children don't normally look through a catalog to choose their "perfect" family.
