Those who begin to think of religion are often perplexed and confounded at their outset by the diversity of theological systems and ceremonies or the contentions and inconsistencies of their adherents. To persons in such circumstances it is of great importance to have at hand a kind of mentor, a judicious and experienced Christian friend from whom counsel and assistance may be sought.
