Beskrivelse af Potato Value Chain Analysis: Implications For Employment Generation
Potato is a very valuable and high yielding vegetable which gives high returns to the farmers. Employment in agribusiness is very crucial as compared to other businesses as this is the largest employer of the labor force. Value chains are providing a good source of employment generation and poverty reduction. The poor people engage with value chains at a number of different nodes of the chain, as workers and consumers as well as producers. So the value chains can play an important role in improving the socio-economic status of the local people. In a situation like this where informal marketing is huge, vertical coordination among the value chain is very poor, market information is very limited, market facilities are lacking and post harvest handling is very poor, the prospect of such a research study is evident. This book contains five chapters. Introduction of the research problem is presented in chapter no. 1, review of the relevant studies is illustrated in chapter no. 2, methodological approach is described in chapter no. 3, main findings are presented in chapter no. 4 whereas summary and recommendations are provided in chapter no. 5.
