Pop Rocks: Translated and Edited by D. K. Sweet

Bag om Pop Rocks: Translated and Edited by D. K. Sweet

This is the newest translation of the work by Xavier Breton's original text first published in 1975. The work has been edited and translated by D.K. Sweet, who first discovered the text while studying with Breton in Paris. Breton professed that the end of the world was at hand-18 years, 4 months and 2 days, and he was correct. The end of the world was his end, not ours, and like other prophets, his calculations were either wrong or misunderstood. What he has left are a group of writings that consists of poems and vignettes that represent his idea of pop culture form the early Italian Renaissance up to today. Some pieces are just fragments. As Breton was often heard to say of Kafka, "The drips and drabs, the snippets, hold the true essence of the creative genius." Many of the pieces represent his own diverse circle of acquaintances, such as Anthony Davika, Nina Simone, Jorge Luis Borges, and Andy Warhol. Others, are just observations into the capitalistic culture we have found ourselves. Regardless, you are bound to find a bit of writing here that will spark your imagination, inspire your life, and open your awareness to the life that is lived around you.
