Alchemy is an ancient branch of esoteric philosophy and Hermetic science of occult knowledge stemming from the first five recorded centuries known as the theologian era. Zosimos of Panopolis was a Greco-Egyptian alchemist and Gnostic mystic who wrote the oldest known books on alchemy during the third and fourth centuries. Other famous alchemist's such as Cleopatra, Maria the Prophetess, King Eros, laid the foundations of the hermetic occult science. Hermes was called the father of alchemy by some, and a restorer of the art by others such as Theophrastus Paracelsus. Hermes Trismegistus the thrice greatest master of the three realms was credited for preserving the ancient science of alchemy in the emerald tablets of Thoth, Atlantean alchemist from Atlantis. These early alchemist's laid the corner stone of the lost hermetic science. Early Modern Alchemist's such as George Ripley picked up the torch and were credited with expanding the art with extensive experimentation and new recorded documentation such as Ripley's bosom book on alchemy. His most notable medieval would was called the compound of alchemy and he became famous as the author of the Ripley Scroll. His work laid open the metal acetate path of alchemy. The most famous legendary alchemist of all time was perhaps Nicholas Flamel who had a dream he would receive a book from an angel displaying the lost secrets of alchemy. For the cost of two florins the Paris bookseller soon had a new mission in life which caused him to become the center of legends of alchemy. His mausoleum was engraved with ancient hieroglyphical figures including a sun, above a key, above a book. Michael Sendivogius was credited with illuminating an overview of the alchemical art and its changes through time in a manuscript called The New Chemical Light preserving the art and its history of alchemy especially noting some of the differences between ancient Hermeticism and medieval alchemy. which is later reinforced in the renaissance era alchemical literature of Theophrastus Bombastus Von Hohenheim, also known as Paracelsus the great, who was a swiss alchemist physician who claimed to prominently display the philosopher's stone on the hilt of his sword. History suggests that Paracelsus was killed by knife wielding assassins and his sword stolen. DISCLAIMER; Do not try this at home. Not for consumption.
