The chapters have been divided into four sections and each is set in chronological order. The first section is dedicated to Byzantine and Post-Byzantine painting, including papers on wall-paintings and icon paintings. The second section contains four papers on Byzantine sculpture, showcasing examples from different regions of the Byzantine Empire. The third section concerns material culture (coinage and minor arts). The fourth and final section concerns architecture and topography in Byzantium and beyond.
