Beskrivelse af Pan Michael
Pan Michael: An Historical Novel of Poland, the Ukraine, and Turkey is a novel written by the Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz and first published in 1893. The book is set in the 17th century and tells the story of a Polish nobleman named Michael Volodyovski, also known as Pan Michael. The novel is divided into three parts, each of which takes place in a different country. The first part is set in Poland, where Pan Michael falls in love with a young woman named Helena Kurcewiczwna. However, their romance is interrupted by the arrival of the invading Turkish army, and Pan Michael is sent to fight in the war.The second part of the novel takes place in the Ukraine, where Pan Michael is sent on a mission to help defend the country against the Turkish invaders. Here, he meets a Cossack named Zagloba, who becomes his loyal friend and ally.In the third and final part of the novel, Pan Michael and Zagloba travel to Turkey, where they must rescue Helena from the clutches of the Turkish sultan. Along the way, they face many challenges and dangers, including battles with the Turkish army and treacherous political intrigue.Pan Michael: An Historical Novel of Poland, the Ukraine, and Turkey is a sweeping epic that combines romance, adventure, and historical fiction. It is a vivid portrayal of life in 17th century Eastern Europe and a tribute to the courage and resilience of the Polish people in the face of adversity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
