Beskrivelse af Palamon And Arcite
Palamon and Arcite is a dramatic poem written by John Dryden, first published in 1700. The poem is based on Chaucer's Knight's Tale and tells the story of two knights, Palamon and Arcite, who fall in love with the same woman, Emily. The two knights are imprisoned in Athens and while they are there, they see Emily and both fall in love with her. They eventually escape from prison and decide to fight for Emily's love. The story is full of twists and turns, including a tournament and a battle between the two knights. Dryden's poem is known for its vivid descriptions, powerful language, and emotional depth. It is considered a masterpiece of English literature and a classic example of heroic drama. While Arcite lives in bliss, the story turns Where hopeless Palamon in prison mourns. For six long years immured, the captive knight Had dragged his chains, and scarcely seen the light: Lost liberty and love at once he bore. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
