Introduced in Colorado Blood, young veterinarian Dr. Josie Tate must investigate her top trail horse's unexplained disappearance after a catastrophic horse-riding accident. She withstands the ire of a menacing animal abuser bent on revenge while continuing her dedication to her patients and clients.
Charlie Whitten, a wildlife biologist, aids in the emotional recovery of Josie's horse and uses his training not only in the rescue and recovery of avalanche victims but also in surveying the reintroduced, endangered lynx in the wilderness.
Together, they contemplate a dream of establishing a sanctuary and rehabilitation center for horses and wildlife on the western slope of Colorado, a life together.
