Beskrivelse af Old Heidelberg (1904)
Old Heidelberg is a novel written by Wilhelm Meyer-Forster and published in 1904. The story is set in the city of Heidelberg, Germany, and revolves around the life of a young prince named Karl Heinrich. Karl Heinrich is sent to Heidelberg to attend university and receives a warm welcome from the people of the city. He falls in love with a beautiful barmaid named Kathi and they begin a secret romance. However, Karl Heinrich's royal duties call him back to his homeland and he must leave Kathi behind. Years later, Karl Heinrich returns to Heidelberg as the king and is reunited with Kathi. The novel explores themes of love, duty, and the conflicts between personal desires and responsibilities. Meyer-Forster's vivid descriptions of Heidelberg's landscapes and architecture add to the charm of the novel. Old Heidelberg has been adapted into several films and stage productions, making it a beloved classic in German literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
