Beskrivelse af Night And Day
Night and Day is a novel written by Virginia Woolf, first published in 1919. The story is set in London and follows the lives of two women, Katharine Hilbery and Mary Datchet, who come from different social backgrounds. Katharine is a member of the upper-class Hilbery family and is engaged to be married to William Rodney, a poet. Mary, on the other hand, is a working-class suffragette who is passionate about women's rights. The novel explores the themes of love, marriage, and gender roles in early 20th century England. Katharine struggles to reconcile her desire for a traditional marriage with her intellectual ambitions, while Mary navigates her romantic feelings for Ralph Denham, a young lawyer, and her commitment to the suffrage movement. As the two women's lives intersect, they confront their own beliefs and desires, and the novel ultimately asks whether it is possible to reconcile personal fulfillment with societal expectations. With its richly drawn characters, intricate plot, and insightful commentary on social issues, Night and Day is considered one of Woolf's most accomplished works.London, in the first days of spring, has buds that open and flowers that suddenly shake their petals--white, purple, or crimson--in competition with the display in the garden beds, although these city flowers are merely so many doors flung wide in Bond Street and the neighborhood, inviting you to look at a picture, or hear a symphony, or merely crowd and crush yourself among all sorts of vocal, excitable, brightly colored human beings. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
