Beskrivelse af My Antonia
My Antonia is a novel by Willa Cather that was first published in 1918. The book is set in the late 19th century and tells the story of Jim Burden, a young boy who moves from Virginia to Nebraska to live with his grandparents after his parents die. Jim meets Antonia Shimerda, a young Bohemian immigrant, and the two become close friends. The novel follows their lives and the lives of other immigrants in the area as they struggle to make a living on the harsh Nebraska prairie. The book explores themes of love, friendship, loss, and the immigrant experience in America. Through Jim's memories, the reader is transported back to a time when life was simpler, but also more difficult. The novel is considered a classic of American literature and has been praised for its vivid descriptions of the landscape and its portrayal of the immigrant experience.Cuzak sat down behind the stove and watched his womenfolk and the little children with equal amusement. He thought they were nice, and he thought they were funny, evidently. He had been off dancing with the girls and forgetting that he was an old fellow, and now his family rather surprised him; he seemed to think it a joke that all these children should belong to him. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
