Music, Philosophy, and Modernity

This book looks at key philosophical responses to music from Kant, the German Romantics and Wagner, to Wittgenstein and Adorno. It uses music to question many ideas about language, meaning and philosophy, and thereby proposes an alternative account of philosophy's relationship to modernity.
