Beskrivelse af Mrs. Radcliffe's Novels
Mrs. Radcliffe's Novels: The Italian, The Romance Of The Forest, The Mysteries Of Udolpho is a collection of three gothic novels written by Ann Radcliffe. The first novel, The Italian, is set in Italy and follows the story of a young couple who are separated by the machinations of a villainous monk. The second novel, The Romance Of The Forest, is set in France and tells the story of a young woman who seeks refuge in a mysterious castle after fleeing from her guardians. The third novel, The Mysteries Of Udolpho, is perhaps the most famous of the three and is set in France and Italy. It follows the story of a young woman named Emily who is imprisoned in a castle by her cruel guardian and forced to confront a series of supernatural and mysterious events. All three novels are characterized by their atmospheric descriptions of landscapes and buildings, as well as their emphasis on the emotions and psychological states of their characters. They are considered important examples of the gothic genre and have been influential in shaping the development of the novel in the 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
