It's the 1960s, and David White is a twenty-six-year-old introvert who doesn't have a phone or a television. He lives alone in a tenement in Philadelphia and walks to work. David wants to marry and have a family, but he doesn't have love. And he doesn't think he ever will, though his heart aches for it.
