Gymnema sylvestre is one of the priceless rare vine of central ecoregion belongs to family Asclepiadaceae. It is commonly known as Bedki, Gymnema, Cowplant, Australia cowplant, Gudmar (Gud¿Jaggery, mar¿kills), Gurmari, Gurmarbooti, Gurmar (destroyer of sugar), Periploaca of the woods, Madhunashini, Meshasringo, Miracle fruit. This is widely grown for its anti-diabetic, anti-sweetner and anti-inflammatory activity (Shah et al., 2013). The plant is native to the tropical forests of Southern and Central India and Srilanka. The plant is commonly known as Masbedda in Srilanka. There are near about 119 species of Gymnema Genus (Gupta et al., 2012). It is grown widely in Malaysia, Srilanka, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, Tropical forest of Central and Southern India and China.
