Beskrivelse af Memoirs Of Service Afloat
Memoirs of Service Afloat: During the War Between the States is a first-hand account of the naval career of Raphael Semmes, a Confederate naval officer during the American Civil War. The book chronicles Semmes' experiences as captain of the CSS Alabama, one of the most successful Confederate raiders, as well as his time commanding other Confederate vessels. Semmes provides detailed accounts of his battles with Union ships and his tactics for avoiding capture. He also offers insights into the political and social climate of the South during the war. The memoirs were originally published in 1869 and have since become a valuable primary source for historians studying the naval aspects of the Civil War.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
