Beskrivelse af McTeague
McTeague: A Story of San Francisco is a novel by Frank Norris published in 1899. Set in turn-of-the-century San Francisco, the book tells the story of McTeague, a dentist who marries his best friend's girlfriend, Trina. The couple's relationship is strained by Trina's obsessive hoarding of money, which eventually leads to their downfall. Along the way, McTeague's violent tendencies and Trina's greed and jealousy lead to a tragic ending. The novel is a commentary on the corrupting influence of money and the destructive power of human nature. It is considered a classic of American naturalism and has been adapted for film and stage.Where that cliched Death-Valley-handcuffed-to-a-dead-man thing comes from. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
