Beskrivelse af Matthew Arnold's Sohrab And Rustum (1905)
Matthew Arnold's Sohrab and Rustum is a narrative poem that tells the tragic story of two warriors, a father and son, who unknowingly meet each other on the battlefield. Rustum, a renowned Persian warrior, is challenged by the young and brave Sohrab, who is fighting for the enemy Turan army. The two engage in a fierce battle, but Rustum ultimately kills Sohrab. As he cradles his dying son, Rustum realizes the truth of their relationship and is devastated by his actions. The poem explores themes of heroism, identity, and the consequences of war. Originally published in 1853, this edition includes illustrations by the renowned artist Edmund Dulac and an introduction by the poet and critic William Watson. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
