Beskrivelse af Leontine (1824)
Leontine is a play written by August von Kotzebue in 1824. The play is set in a small German town and follows the story of Leontine, a young woman who is in love with a man named Valerius. However, her father, Baron von Weiler, disapproves of their relationship and instead wants her to marry a wealthy old man named Count Reval.Despite her father's wishes, Leontine refuses to marry the Count and instead plans to elope with Valerius. However, their plans are interrupted when Valerius is arrested for a crime he did not commit. Leontine then sets out to prove his innocence and clear his name, with the help of her loyal maid and a group of friends. The play explores themes of love, loyalty, and justice, and features a mix of drama, suspense, and comedy. It is a classic example of 19th-century German theatre and remains a popular play among theatre enthusiasts and scholars. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
