Beskrivelse af Kolberg (1894)
Kolberg is a historical novel written by Paul Heyse and first published in 1894. The story is set during the Napoleonic Wars in the early 19th century and centers around the siege of the town of Kolberg in Prussia by French forces. The town is defended by a small garrison of soldiers and civilians, who are determined to hold out against the French onslaught. The novel follows the lives of several characters, including the town's mayor, a young woman named Maria, and a Prussian officer named Gneisenau, as they struggle to survive and resist the French occupation. The book explores themes of patriotism, sacrifice, and the human cost of war. Heyse's vivid descriptions of the battle scenes and the characters' emotional struggles make Kolberg a gripping and poignant read. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
