As a boy, Cristian Chevalier was comfortable with the idea that Mother Nature had set humanity at the top of the food chain. But as a young man, abandoned by his father following the death of his mother, something strange is stirring within him that has a darkly different view of the world. Evolution's true intent slowly reveals itself until Cristian is faced with a dreadful choice. Should he succumb to his true nature and join the ranks of the Silkie (an ancient and powerful entity set to inherit the earth) or should he fight for the human heart that he's pledged to Rose?
