Katy's New Horizons Katy, the twelve-year-old heroine of this story, grows up in the years after World War II. Electricity has replaced the oil lamps and candles of the past. Cars and trucks and tractors are used instead of horses and oxen. The war and the Dirty Thirties are fading into history but their effects are still strongly felt. Katy's new horizons begin with a move to a new farm together with her family in a distant locality. Most of her life is ordinary, like any girl living in her age. Then circumstances arise that demand all the resources that she has and more! Her inner horizons need to expand far beyond her capability. Can Katy rise to the challenge?
