Beskrivelse af Julia France and Her Times
""Julia France and Her Times"" is a historical fiction novel written by Gertrude Atherton. The book is set in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and follows the life of the titular character, Julia France. Julia is a beautiful and ambitious young woman who is determined to succeed in a society that is dominated by men. She is intelligent, resourceful, and fiercely independent, and she uses her wit and charm to climb the social ladder and achieve her goals. Along the way, she encounters a cast of colorful characters, including politicians, artists, and socialites, and she navigates the complex relationships and power struggles that define her world. The novel is a sweeping epic that explores themes of love, ambition, and the struggle for power and recognition in a rapidly changing society. It is a vivid portrait of a fascinating era in American history, and a compelling story of one woman's journey to achieve her dreams.1912. Atherton, was an American Feminist and writer of social and historical fiction, much of it set in California. Although her reputation is founded primarily on her California fiction and essays, as well her biography of Alexander Hamilton, Atherton also produced a number of Gothic stories, some of them, such as The Bell in the Fog, were considered significant achievements in the Gothic/supernaturalist tradition. She visited England on purpose to meet women who were agitating for equal rights, and turned her experience into the novel Julia France and her Times before returning to California in 1912 to participate in the first election in which women of this state could vote.
