The Jaguar controls people in two worlds through their dreams, causing madness. In the world of the Roam, he brands them like cattle and controls an army of priests to inflict cruel punishments for any type of resistance to his will.
But others travel the dreamways of both worlds-Eddie Reyes and his girlfriend, Maryellen, in this world, and their counterparts, Afriqua Lee and Rafferty, in the parallel world of the Roam. They all dream the travel dreams. At times, they break the dream fabric and cross the threshold into the alternate worlds of their counterparts.
