As a significant global player, Indias growing interactions with various African countries call for detailed analysis. Drawing on a collection of case studies written by African, Indian, and Western commentators, India in Africa focuses on four inter-related areas of trade and investment, geopolitics and diplomacy, development cooperation, and identity and citizenship. While Chinas relationship to Africa is much examined, knowledge and analysis of Indias role in Africa has until now been limited.
