Beskrivelse af Huntingtower
Huntingtower is a classic adventure novel by John Buchan, first published in 1922. The story follows the adventures of Dickson McCunn, a retired grocer who sets out on a walking holiday in the Scottish countryside. Along the way, he stumbles upon a group of young people who are in trouble and decides to help them. The group includes a Russian princess, a young lawyer, and a poet, all of whom are being pursued by a criminal gang. McCunn uses his wit and resourcefulness to outsmart the gang and protect the group, leading them to a remote Scottish castle called Huntingtower.Once there, they discover a hidden treasure and must defend it against the gang's attempts to steal it. The novel is full of action, suspense, and humor, as well as vivid descriptions of the Scottish landscape and culture.Huntingtower is the first book in Buchan's ""Dickson McCunn"" series, which also includes Castle Gay and The House of the Four Winds. It is considered a classic of adventure literature and has been adapted into several movies and television shows. He was already suspect, and the sight of him back again in Dalquharter would double that suspicion. He must brazen it out, but he distrusted his powers with such tell-tale stuff in his pockets. They might murder him anywhere on the moor road or in an empty railway carriage. An unpleasant memory of various novels he had read in which such things happened haunted his mind.. ..There was just one consolation. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
