Beskrivelse af His Majesty, Myself (1879)
""His Majesty, Myself"" is a novel written by William Mumford Baker and published in 1879. The story revolves around a young American man named Arthur Wardour who, after a shipwreck, finds himself washed up on the shores of an unknown island. The island is ruled by a young king named Prince Leopold, who is in desperate need of a tutor to educate him in the ways of the world.Arthur, being well-educated and well-traveled, is chosen by the prince to be his tutor. As Arthur begins to teach the prince, he realizes that the young king is not only intelligent but also kind and just. The two become close friends, and Arthur is eventually appointed as the prince's prime minister. However, as Arthur becomes more involved in the politics of the island, he begins to see the flaws in the prince's rule. He realizes that the prince is too idealistic and naive, and that his policies are causing more harm than good. Arthur must decide whether to remain loyal to his friend or to speak out against him for the greater good of the island. The novel explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the responsibilities of leadership. It is a compelling story that offers a unique perspective on the challenges of ruling a kingdom. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
