Beskrivelse af Her First Appearance
Her First Appearance is a novel by American author Richard Harding Davis. The story follows the life of a young woman named Miss Betty Vance, who dreams of becoming an actress. She is given her first opportunity to perform on stage in a small town, but her nerves get the best of her and she fails miserably. Despite this setback, Betty refuses to give up on her dream and continues to pursue acting. Along the way, she meets a variety of characters, including a wealthy businessman who becomes infatuated with her and a struggling actor who becomes her mentor. As Betty navigates the ups and downs of the theater world, she learns valuable lessons about love, friendship, and perseverance. The novel is a poignant exploration of the challenges faced by aspiring actors and the rewards that come with following one's dreams. They were crowded on both sides of the stage with the members of the company; the girls were tiptoeing, with their hands on the shoulders of the men, and making futile little leaps into the air to get a better view, and others were resting on one knee that those behind might see over their shoulders. There were over a dozen children before the footlights, with the prima donna in the centre. She was singing the verses of a song, and they were following her movements. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
